Okay, I’m not saying that you can’t have a long healthy life without a daily meditation practice, but I do know that you’ll enjoy a longer, healthier life if you meditate daily.
The health benefits of meditation focus on relieving stress. The stress in our daily lives that if not treated, will not only shorten our lives, but will also seriously erode the quality of our lives. And, there are at least 11 other health benefits of a meditation practice as well.
Just 15 minutes per day (every day) is enough to make a huge difference in your life.
So why, (if it takes only 15 minutes, and requires no special training), aren’t more people doing it? Many people I know see the value, gave it a try, and gave-up when they don’t get the results they were looking for. Maybe it’s more difficult than we’ve been told. Maybe we’ve been misguided by well-meaning teachers.
I like Craig Hamilton’s approach to meditation. There’s a ton of insights on his website. Much of it is free.
His 45 page ebook (also free) has many valuable insights new to me.
“As research on meditation continues to deepen, it’s beginning to look like the practice of simply sitting still may be the most powerful tool we have available to us to transform not only our own lives—but human
consciousness as a whole.” From Unlocking the Power of Meditation
Victoria and I use a 15 minute guided meditation first thing in the morning that helps us keep on track with deep breathing, and also reminds us about our perfect life. Check it out here. We do this every morning without fail. Also, we practice deep breathing throughout the day, when we’re feeling a little stressed, or we’re in stressful traffic, or we’ve just been working on the computer for too long.
Whether you’re a regular meditator or very new, I’m certain that you will benefit from Craig’s ebook. If you have any problems in downloading the book, I’d be pleased to send you the PDF file. Just let me know.
I hope you’ll share your meditation experience with me.
